How to Clean and Detail Your Tesla: A Complete Guide

Teslas are easy to keep clean once you know the few surfaces that need special handling. The touchscreen, the vegan leather seats, and the piano-black trim all have their own rules, and getting them wrong leaves haze, scratches, or streaks. Here is a safe, top-to-bottom routine.

What You Need

• Two buckets (one wash, one rinse) and a grit guard
• A soft wash mitt and several clean microfiber towels
• pH-neutral car shampoo
• A dedicated screen cloth and screen-safe spray
• Interior detailer safe for vegan leather
• A waterless or rinseless wash for quick touch-ups

Avoid household glass cleaners with ammonia, they damage screen coatings and can discolor trim.

Exterior: Wash Without Swirls

1. Rinse first to lift loose grit before you touch the paint.
2. Two-bucket method. Wash mitt into the soap bucket, then rinse it in the clean bucket between panels so you are not dragging grit back across the paint.
3. Top down. Wash the dirtiest lower sections last.
4. Dry with a clean microfiber or a blower to avoid water spots.
